New Delhi March 31: Reeling under corruption scams and general pressure,the UPA government today in a sudden move repealed the draconian Armed Force Special Powers Act (AFPSA) in vogue in Northeast especially in the Manipur region.In a written statement Mr AK Anthony the "Bhaksha ..err Raksha Mantri" said :
" We are moved by the tears of the people of Northeast and Irom Sharmila.Hence we are repealing the AFSPA Act."
Politcial parties across the country has welcomed this move.The BJP infact went a step ahead and asked Manmohan Singh and AK Anthony to resign over the fact that they didnt announce this decision early.Parties across NorthEast also enjoyed the moment,Shri Chandrmohanbhog Patowary ..leader of the frontline NGO of Assam AGP was quoted as saying " We were celebrating Earth Hour by listening to the radio when this news came in Akashbani Guwahati news at 9.00.We were overjoyed the struggle of AGP has finally come a full circle." Meanwhile rising star of Assam Mr Badlau Gogoi was quoted as saying " this is all due to my papa's efforts."
Meanwhile while Irom Sharmila couldn't be reached for comment a lot of Manipuris were seen bursting crackers and dancing .Local armymen posted in those areas too were overjoyed to find this great news.Balbir Singh a Lancenaik with the 13 Garhwal Rifles was quoted as saying " balle balle no more tension now we can go back to our fields "
